We visited some great projects at Gamescom, one of them was GameOn a new game and entertainment centre in Berlin.
“It will be a 10000 sqm multi-media experience offering a new all-round entertainment concept, combining the advantages of outdoor theme parks with the unlimited possibilities of internet-based virtual gaming worlds.
The main focus for our guests is to play games and have fun: classic arcade gaming, the latest video games, attractions such as simulators and virtual reality, an e-sports areana and even a cinema-on-demand – GameOn offers something for everyone. Our unique experience is complemented by an events stage, a conference centre, shopping and a large variety of dining opportunities.”
We visited a lot of joint stands of different nations and their game branch, so like Argentina, Canada, China, Nordic Staates, France, Great Britain, Holland, Korea, Mexico, Russia, Spain and many more. We missed some countries, but it was a surprise to see little staates like Estonia, Iceland and Mongolia and their game developments. Check the photo section for some pictures. We will select for you the best of developments we have seen.
We visited Plantronics and tested their new headsets, the RIG Surround and RIG Flex. The sound is awesome and you have a lot of settings to choose. Plantronics Gaming offers a range of audio peripherals at a range of price points to meet the needs of every gamer, whether they play on mobile, console or PC.
After visting a lot of game developers and their games at Gamescom, we think these are some of the best games: Assassin’s Creed: Unity, Batman: Arkham Knight, Bloodborne, Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel, DayZ, Destiny, Evolve, FIFA 15, Halo 5: Guardians, Quantum Break, Rise of the Tomb Raider, The Crew, The Division, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.
We talked with the guys from Epic Games about the new features of the Unreal Engine. The editor is revised and updated. A better functionality and overview allows a better workflow. The system requirements are scaled down and the hardware support is now on a very high level, especially for CPU and GPU Multiprocessing!
Another good news is the integration and support of the most third party plugins, especially the mega texturing in the new graphine version. Check it out here:http://graphinesoftware.com
But the best news is the new licence model, 19€ a month, thats fair.
We met the Unity and Everyplay developers and exchanged about new developments. Version 5 of the Unity engine will come with a new unified shader to make it particularly easy to represent different material surfaces and reflections. The lighting system is to be extended with new real-time functions and Ray-tracing will be possible. Another great news, parts of Unity will be open source! Collaborations with Intel, Google and Samsung will support better integration on Android and Smart TV devices.
